The way I was taught up was just strive for the best in all you do and don’t care how much people tease you, make fun of you, whatever. You be the leader that you have to be. Do whatever you have to do just to see nobody makes a decision for you but you. You got to stand up for your rights, stand up for what you believe in each and every day.

It doesn’t matter how messed up, are you, be a leader in what you do. It doesn’t matter if you’re on drugs, you can break that habit. It doesn’t matter if you’re on alcohol, you can break the habit. If you’re a child of a single parent you can change all that inside yourself. You have a lot of moodiness or something, you can change that.

Be a leader in what you are, and stand up for your rights. And sometimes it may be hard in life to change your personality or change your goals or change your character. But you keep on working at it because it’s going to come out good at the end.

To be a leader is to actually get up each morning with a right mind. To actually go into a school where people don’t even think good things about you. To actually do the work even though your teacher is mean to you and always wants to fail you. To actually be around people who want to stab you in the back. To go home at night, to work not even eating, not even thinking of something like food-wise … something that you have to go in and cook for yourself even though your mother is sick. Being a leader is having to actually go somewhere even though people don’t want you there. Or being a leader must be saying something that you don’t know that people don’t even want you to hear.

People want to see somebody else, people want to hear somebody else, but you have to make this choice. When people tease you, being a leader means just don’t even listen to it and go on about your business. It’s hard sometimes to be a leader. I know for a fact that I used to come home, tears in my eyes, people tease me, people try to make fun of me.

But being a leader is sometimes being a follower. And if you try your best to move and strive to be a follower, perseverance will help you get to that route. It’s like a path. A path to actually be successful in life. Maybe there’s some rocks, maybe push it out of your way. People like snakes, serpents, trying to bite and trying to stop you from running the race. But cut their head off, move them out of the way because you know that in your life you can succeed.
